Today’s Lighthouse Postcard of the Day is a colorful linen card featuring MINOT’S LIGHT, Massachusetts.
CAPTION: MINOT’S LIGHT
The most famous of all New England lighthouses, located one and a half miles from shore, required over five years to build. The tower is of granite blocks rising to a height of 88 feet, and the lower half is solid all through. Above the solid portion are the apartments of five rooms, one above the other and above all, the revolving light. The present structure was completed in 1960.

CARD TITLE: CHATHAM LIGHT, CHATHAM, CAPE COD, MASS.
CAPTION: A lighthouse built of brick by the United States Government stood on the edge of the bluff overlooking Chatham Bar, the tides and the rains undermined the cliff and the lighthouse fell into the sea. Then the present Light was built about 200 yards further inland, and electrically lighted.

Nantucket Lightship
A lightvessel, or lightship, is a ship which acts as a lighthouse. They are used in waters that are too deep or otherwise unsuitable for lighthouse construction

Nantucket Shoal Station, MA 1937
Built in 1936 to replace Lightship #117 after it was struck and sunk with seven of its 11 crew members. Heavy seas and thick fog made this a dangerous station on the south end of the shoal.
